SUMMARY:Compliance Perspective of the New Data Protection Act of India (DPA 20211)
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to announce our chapter is partnering on a seminar event conducted Madras Management Association and FDPPI. \nThe objective of the seminar is to introduce the new proposed Data Protection Act of India as per the JPC recommended version of the Personal Data Protection Bill 2019 from the perspective of the industry.\nThe law is applicable both for Government\, Non Government bodies established in India and to a certain extent activities in India of foreign entities.\nAt present\, a section of the Private Sector like the Social Media companies have reservations on the enactment of the law. Amongst the Private Sector entities outside the Social Media domain\, the IT companies are well aware of the EU GDPR and have adopted compliance of GDPR to a large extent in their activities. MNC manufacturing companies have also been in compliance with GDPR and hence “Data Privacy” or “Privacy Protection through Data Protection” is not unfamiliar to them.\nOther Companies in India who are not presently exposed to Data Protection may have the “fear of unknown” and resistance to change. As professional bodies we need to remove this fear and present the law in a truthful manner for those who want to be compliant.\nThe seminar aims to unravel the perspective of the proposed law purely from the perspective of the compliance issues that private sector companies may face when the law becomes effective keeping the controversies aside.\nAgenda\nThe seminar will address the above objective in the following five steps.\n1. A General Introduction of the Law -DPA 2021\n2. Key Legal issues that emerge out of the law\n3. Critical Technology Challenges before the industry\n4. Professional opportunities and Disruptions created\n5. Existing Compliance Frameworks and New Codes of Practice \n  \n  \n
