Purpose of this notice:

The ISACA Chennai chapter upholds protection of privacy amongst its significant obligations and is committed to sponsoring, supporting and ensuring compliance with the Indian Personal data Protection Bill and other applicable Privacy regulations. 

The purpose of this privacy notice (“Privacy Notice”) is to inform you (‘you’, refers to visitors and members of ISACA Chennai Chapter’s website) as to how the ISACA Chennai Chapter ( “we” or “us”) as a data fiduciary  collects, uses, shares, and retains personal data  that you provide to us, or that we collect, when you use the ISACA Chennai Chapter website located at <https://isaca-chennai.org/isaca/index.jsp> or related mobile applications, information relating to our chapter members and officers to the extent shared with us by ISACA Headquarters to use ISACA Chennai Chapter services and provided over our authorised electronic forms, participate in ISACA Chennai Chapter events, or communicate in writing with one of our chapter representatives (“Personal Data”).

As a data fiduciary  we are responsible for determining the purpose and means of collecting and processing your personal data. From time to time any additions and updates to this privacy notice will be intimated to you by posting a notice on our website or by other modes (e.g. Mail), which may arise from collection and processing of personal information other than those categories/types covered in this notice.

‘Personal data’ means any of your information that identifies you or which can be linked with other sets of information to identify you ,for instance ,your name, full face pictures ,academic qualifications, date of birth ,Government issued  ID cards, payment related information etc.

ISACA Chennai Chapter does not collect any special categories of personal data such as information on racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data for the purposes of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation.

All your personal data is used only for legitimate /lawful purposes which is in connection with the use of the ISACA website and other sites, which is maintained securely in line with ISACA Chennai Chapter’s Information Security Policy 

Scope of this notice:

This Privacy Notice is limited to the Privacy Practices of ISACA Chennai Chapter and does not cover the Privacy Practices of other ISACA Chapters / Headquarters. 

Please note that if you disagree with anything in this Privacy Notice, you must not use the web site(s) or services that require you to provide personal information to us in connection with ISACA’s products or services.

Personal data collected and used by us:

What Personal data do we collect?

  • Information collected directly and when you choose to give it to us:

1 Chapter Membership Registration  When you provide your Personal Data to ISACA Headquarters and/ or Chennai Chapter to become a member of our chapter/ affiliate with our chapter you will be required to provide certain information as part of the registration process. Information may include your first and last name, email address, and business or home address and certain related information like your ISACA Certifications, date from which you are an ISACA member.
We may also request that you voluntarily provide other information, such as your phone number, date of birth, demographic information, educational background, and work experience, information about your non-ISACA certifications, or courses or areas of study in which you may be interested and information about your company as it relates to your chapter membership.		 Membership information is used to communicate with you, to design content and activities that we believe would be of interest to you. If you wish to opt-out of receiving these communications from us
2 Events and Conferences: We host events that include in-person and virtual conferences, training, knowledge sharing and webinars.  Member: At the time you register for an event and you are an ISACA member, we access the information in your member account as well as any additional personal information that you may be required to provide at the time of registration for the service.

Non-member: At the time you register for one of our events and you are not an ISACA member, we collect your first and last name, email address, business or home address, educational background, employer name, your designation and location and sometimes, your collar size for issuing shirts.

 Provide you with information and services associated with the event to both members and non-members in designated electronic or hardcopy event registration forms 
3 Chapter social media  When you subscribe to any of our official social media platforms  Information such as your name, mobile phone number, such other personal information that you share subject to policies of the social media platform that you are member of and as permitted by your privacy settings. To enable sharing of information permitted to be shared in context of our chapter social media platform, to enable networking, restricted by your privacy settings.

If you may not want to share your personal information on Chapter’s social media platforms, you may exit/unsubscribe, set your privacy setting preferences as provided by the platform operator, by which you shall no more have access to such services/ access to networking platform

 

  • Information collected automatically from you:

Certain data is collected automatically from you when visiting our website, namely:

  1. When you access our website through your computers and/or mobile devices, our website/application automatically collects information relating to your  browser type and version, computer and connection information, pages you have visited and standard web log information etc. through Google Analytics.
  2. Where chapter website is accessed through a mobile device, collect data relating to your type of device and type of browser through Google Analytics
  3. The chapter also tracks geographic location from where users access the website through Google Analytics for statistics and analysis, however standard content is made available to all users accessing from any geographic location.

 

How do we secure your personal data?

We at ISACA Chennai Chapter are committed to security of your personal data with us. Accordingly we have put in place appropriate technical, organizational and security measures in order to safeguard and reduce the risk of accidental destruction or loss, or the unauthorized disclosure or access to Personal Data you provide through our website in connection to our services. However, please be aware that we cannot provide 100% guarantee that the Personal Data you so provide or we collect will not be exposed as a result of unauthorized penetration to our servers. Regardless we make reasonable efforts to ensure that the collection and security of such personal data are consistent with this notice and other relevant applicable laws and regulations. 

What are your responsibilities?

The security of personal data also partly depends on the security of the computer, device or network used by you to communicate with us. You as a user of our services or intending to use our services are responsible for keeping your username and password secret. You understand by reading this privacy policy – the type and nature of personal information we collect, how we process and use and accordingly exercise your discretion if and how much to use our chapter services. Where provided, you are responsible for configuring your privacy controls. In the event of any doubt, not to share any personal information by not using our services. Once you have registered with us, we will never ask for your password. It is recommended that you create a unique password for your account and do not use it for other web services or applications and keep it changed every 60 days or earlier. Do not share your password with anyone for any reason whatsoever. Do not share your personal information, to the extent required by this policy, and with anyone other than authorised chapter representatives and/or chapter hosted official websites and social media platforms. 

How your personal data is stored?

Your personal data is stored by ISACA Chennai chapter on its India based web server. We retain your personal data only so long as we need it for the purpose of providing our services to you through our website and/or otherwise and fulfil the purposes described in this notice. This is also the case for anyone that we may share your personal data with and who carries out services on our behalf. Retention periods can vary significantly based on the type of data and how it is used. Our retention periods are based on criteria that include legally mandated retention periods, pending or potential litigation, our intellectual property or ownership rights, contract requirements, operational directives or needs, and historical archiving. 

When we no longer have use for your personal data and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, we either remove it from our systems or anonymize it so that we can no more identify you. Hence you will not be able to access our chapter’s services except through notified process of fresh engagement with the chapter as regards consenting use of your personal information.

 

How your personal data is shared

ISACA Chennai chapter will not disclose personal information we gather from you to any third parties except in the following circumstances:

  1. With the ISACA Headquarters
  2. Third party service providers (Hosting our web servers, communication of chapter activities, event management entities, processing payments etc.)
  3. Volunteer leaders and officials and designated members of the ISACA Chennai chapter board and committees. 
  4. ISACA Chennai Chapter events (If you attend an event or appear as an speaker, or sponsor, certain items of your personal data may be included as part of the event roster, which will be publicly disclosed, and even shared with third-party event sponsors and exhibitors, event managers )
  5. Response to court requests/orders, government requests or regulatory action or reporting obligations 
  6. In the event of breach, to enforcement and regulatory authorities

 

Your rights

You are entitled to exercise any of your following rights upon giving appropriate notice under the Indian Personal Data Protection Bill, or any such other applicable legislation:

 

    1. Right to confirmation and access: you have a right to request a copy of your personal data held by us. The Chapter shall fulfil this request within 30 working days.
    2. Right to correction : you have the right to rectify/correct your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete or misleading
    3. Right to request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten): You can request the deletion or removal or erasure of your personal data where the said data has served its purpose for which it was made or is no longer necessary.
    4. Right to data portability: This allows you to obtain your personal data in a commonly used and machine-readable format and reuse it for your own purposes.
    5. Right to object to the processing of your data where ISACA Chennai Chapter relies on its legitimate interests as the legal grounds for processing.

Lodging an Objection

We will not process your personal data after an effective objection, unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing which outweighs the interests, rights and freedom of the concerned person, or if the processing is for the enforcement, exertion or defence of legal claims.

How do I exercise the above rights?

You can exercise your rights at any time by sending an email to privacy@isaca-chennai.org. Or to the authorised and designated chapter officials more specifically the Honorary Secretary as well as the President of ISACA Chennai Chapter on their designated official chapter email address.

We shall do our best to resolve any issues that you may have in relation to our processing of your personal data.

Personal data relating to children

The ISACA Chennai Chapter is a professional membership association and our website is not directed to children under the age of 18. Hence, we do not, knowingly collect personally identifiable data from persons under the age of 18 (Indian majority Act). If you are a parent of a child under 18, and you believe that your child has accidentally provided us with information about him or herself, please contact us at privacy@isaca-chennai.org
